The Media Dashboard USB 3.0 Driver Plugin enables the USB drive to display all of your movie and music library summaries, ratings, and other metadata on your TV or monitor without having to disconnect them. All you need is a Mac OS X system with an Intel CPU and a MediaDashboard application installed and running on it, and this driver plugin installed on your USB drive. The plugin is compatible with OS X 10.5 Leopard onward, but does not work for OS X 10.4 Tiger or OS X 10.3 Puma (although these versions of OS X are no longer supported by Apple). To get started:- Download the installer from our website at http://www2. support.apple.com/downloads/ - Open the installer file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the plugin - Restart your Mac OS X system after the installation has finished- Launch Apple's "Media Player" application, which is included with OS X, or create a new one. The Media Player app should show up in your menu bar under "Utilities". Select "Preferences", then click on "Preferences" again to bring up another menu. Select "Plugins", then choose the Media Dashboard plugin from the list of plugins at the bottom of this menu. If this isn't visible, select "Show All Plugins". It should now show up in this list. Select it, then click "OK". - Your USB drive should now appear in the Media Player. Select the drive, then press "Play" on your remote to begin playback of your media library.- You can move data between your internal hard disk or SSD and the external USB drive simply by dragging folders of media files over to it.- To connect your USB drive to another computer, drag it from this one into the open Finder window of that machine. It will show up in its windows or folder browser under "Devices". You can also drag it directly into a folder window on any other machine without showing up in the Finder's sidebar. - Media files can be played directly from the USB drive, without needing the computer. High-definition video files may play faster using this method.- ALL metadata is visible when using the plugin, including music album art.To uninstall the USB Drive Media Dashboard plugin:- Launch Apple's "Media Player" application, which is included with OS X, or create a new one. The Media Player app should show up in your menu bar under "Utilities" - Select "Preferences", then click on "Preferences" again to bring up another menu. Select "Plugins", and choose the Media Dashboard plugin from the list of plugins at the bottom of this menu. If this isn't visible, select "Show All Plugins". It should now show up in this list. Select it, then click "OK". - Your USB drive will now disappear from the Media Player. - Restart your Mac OS X systemIf you have further technical questions about the plugin, you can contact Apple Support by going to http://www2.support.apple.com/.
